Samsung Galaxy Fold Review

The Future!? Is this the Future of the smartphoneindustry? We don’t know that yet but what we know is that the Samsung Galaxy Fold is one of a Kind Phone/Tablet. At first Glance, the Galaxy Fold just looks awesome but when you look closer you will realize that the folding phone is not perfect. In fact, it is full of flaws. The Galaxy Fold is a fascinating concept, the on-paper specs of the device are just out of the league. The phone comes with six cameras. Yes! You heard it right people, Six cameras! It houses a massive 12 GB of RAM and a gigantic 512 GB of storage. Sadly, unlike many other Samsung devices, there is no option for expandable storage. But the specs aren’t the only thing that are out of the league, the price is out of the league as well. The Galaxy Fold is available in the market for $ 1,980 well with that being said here’s our full review for Samsung’s Galaxy Fold.

Design and Display

The phone as mentioned above is a folding phone that can turn into a tablet. When the phone is folded, it’s about 15.5 mm thick while on the other hand when the phone is unfolded it’s just about 6.9 mm thick. The Galaxy Fold is quite on the heavy side and weighs about 263 grams which just almost double than what a normal smartphone weighs. On the front when the Phone is folded is the small screen, the speakerphone, and a front-facing camera. On the back of the device is the triple camera setup. While when you unfold the phone, you get a big 7.3 inches display with a weird notch on the right side that houses another two front-facing cameras and a bunch of sensors. On the right side of the phone are the volume rockers, power button and the fingerprint reader that can double as a Bixby button. You can easily buy this device online using Amazon Promo Code with great deals.

So yes, the fingerprint reader and the power button are different from each other. On the left side of the phone is the sim tray rather than that the left side of the phone looks clean. On top is the secondary microphone as well as one of two stereo speakers while on the bottom of the phone are the USB Type-C port, Primary microphone, and the second stereo speaker.
The cover display is 4.6 inches super AMOLED panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio and really, really big bezels. The display is kind of small and people with big hands might even find it hard to type on the cover display. The Main display of the phone is a huge 7.3 inches Dynamic AMOLED panel with probably a 4:3 aspect ratio. You can easily notice the crease in the middle of the main display.

Performance and Interface

The performance on the Galaxy Fold is just awesome, the phone comes with a Snapdragon 855 chipset and 12 GB of RAM. Which means you can run every mobile game on this phone at high settings at high frame rates and it will just work. Sadly, there isn’t any option for Expandable storage which means you are stuck with the 512 GB of internal storage but that amount of storage is probably enough for most people. The big screen is good for some features like multi-tasking, you can open as many as 8 apps at a time on the big screen and from what the specs say all those apps should run just fine. The Galaxy Fold runs Samsung’s new and Improved One UI on top of Android 9 pie and for the most part, One UI works really good. It offers quite a lot of customization and the bloat wares are a lot less now considering the old times.

Camera and Battery Life

As mentioned above, the Galaxy Fold comes with 6 cameras! the three rear-facing cameras that are located at the back of the phone in which the primary camera is a 12MP shooter with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.5 to 2.4 that supports Samsung’s version of the dual pixel technology while the second camera is a 12 MP  f/2.4 telephoto lens and the third is a 16 MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens, The single front-facing camera on the cover display which is a 10 MP f/2.2 lens and the other two selfie cameras that are situated in the notch on the main screen out of which the primary camera is a 10 MP f/2.2 lens while the secondary camera is 8 MP f/1.9 depth sensor. In addition to this if you are looking for software development jobs then it could be best chance to try it.

The battery life on the galaxy fold is also really good, the phone comes with 4380 mAh battery that supports 15 W fast charging as well 15 W wireless charging and 9 W reverse wireless charging.

Verdict

If you’re looking to get your hands on the latest technology or if you want a big display phone that can fit in your pocket, we suggest you check out the galaxy fold because other than that there is no reason to recommend the Galaxy fold as someone’s daily driver.
