Kuari Pass Trek: A Must Visit Destination

Overview: Kuari Pass Trek

The Kuari pass trek which is said to be located in the Garhwal region of the great Himalaya is about a 33 km excursion that includes stops at major pilgrim sites such as Devprayag, Joshimath, Rishikesh, and Haridwar. The trek is located near Auli in Uttarakhand. This trekking spot is well-known for providing views of Mount Nanda Devi which is India’s second-highest peak. At an elevation of about 12,516 feet above the sea.

During the trekking uphill you may find the tracks of some of the uncommon animals such as that of the Himalayan Bear or Leopard in some instances. The nicest thing about this Kuari Pass trek is that it consists of large green fields with Himalayan sight and you can camp amid beautiful green wetlands. This hiking route was found by Lord Curzon in the year 1905 and this place is also popularly known as the Curzon Trail. The panoramic view from the eastern slopes of the spectacular peaks of Kuari Pass Trek is possible to see Neelkanth, Garhwal Himalayas, Mana, Bertholi, Trishul, Hathi Ghori Parvat, Dronagiri, Kamet, and Nanda Devi.

How to reach?

One can choose to reach this destination by different means of transportation such as the roads or railways or through the airways. If you chose to reach this place by railway then this is for you, Haridwar Junction Railway Station is well-connected by train, with frequent trains to Delhi which just takes about 4-5 hours to reach, and Dehradun which takes only 1 hour to reach. Rishikesh is also well served by a number of trains on a daily basis.

If you chose to reach this trekking spot by your own vehicles such as a car or bike or also can choose to take public or private vehicles, then this is for you. Haridwar is well connected by road to all major cities and towns all over India, so people choose to take the bus to Haridwar according to their preferences and comfortability and affordability.

A good road network connects Haridwar to Chandigarh, Delhi, Dehradun, and Nainital. The nearest airport to Haridwar which is close to this trekking spot is Dehradun’s famous Jolly Grant Airport. Dehradun is accessible via direct flight from Mumbai or Delhi, as well as connecting flights from other Indian cities. Local automobiles can be hired outside the airport to get to Haridwar from Dehradun via road.

Things not to miss at Kuari Pass

Views of the Nanda Devi Mountain Peak

The Kuari Pass trek is one of my favorites since it provides easy access to this breathtaking view. From Auli to Gorson Bugyal, you can see Mt. Nanda Devi. The view vanishes once you cross the Gorson Bugyal. You may view other large mountains, such as the Dronagiri ranges, in addition to Nanda Devi. In fact, Dronagiri and Mt. Nanda Devi are located next to each other. Neelkanth, Chaukhamba, and Hathi Ghoda are all in close proximity.

The picturesque Oak forests

The second reason I enjoy this journey is the beautiful oak woodlands of Kuari Pass. These forests are common in Uttarakhand, however, they’re only found on a few hikes including Roopkund, Brahmatal, and Dayara Bugyal. In comparison to the others, I like the oak woodland of Kuari Pass. This is due to the magnificent placement of oak forests on this route. These oak forests are located on a section of the trail that is not too difficult to ascend. So you’re going for a stroll through the oak woodland.

The wonderful walks through the Meadows

The Gorson Bugyal is the next major incentive to trek the Kuari Pass. The Gorson Bugyal opens out in front of you once you cross the forest line. Ali Bugyal isn’t like that. However, the setting of this Bugyal stays with you long after you’ve returned from your voyage. On one side, the towering Dronagiri and Nanda Devi greet you as you enter Gorson Bugyal. Then there are these lovely fields stretching out in front of you on the other side. One of the members is the lovely Gorson Bugyal. Chitrakantha is the other half. At 12,000 feet, this is a meadow-like ridge. Walking over this ridge is also a memorable experience.
